About Us
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 - 9.45 pm in the Alan Talbott Room of the Village Hall in Broughton Astley. For nine of our monthly meetings, that is excepting May, when we discuss the WI's Resolution for that year, July, when we have an "away" meeting, usually our summer party, and November, which is our Annual General Meeting, we have an invited guest to give a talk on a particular subject or provide an entertainment for us all to enjoy. We also have outings to places of interest and to the theatre, or for luncheon or afternoon tea and sometimes to participate in a local workshop. There is an indoor skittles group. We are hoping to re-start Craft and "Knit and Natter" afternoons.
We take part in village activities, such as the annual carnival, when we provide refreshments and of course a wide selection of delicious home-made cakes in the village hall. We have also served the refreshments in the first two of our village Santa Fun Runs. We also take part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St. Mary's Church in Broughton Astley.
We are one of the four WIs in the Wycliffe Group, which comprises ourselves, Leire, Bitteswell and Ullesthorpe WIs.
You are most welcome to join one of our meetings to see what a friendly group we are and what we can offer you, or you can speak to our President/Publicity Secretary, Fran Marsland on 01455 282118.
