GREAT BOWDEN WI – HARVEST SUPPER
Autumn is here again and time for Great Bowden WI’s Harvest Supper organised by the Committee. This year there was a change to the Menu and Members enjoyed Fish & Chips followed by homemade Trifle and other delicious desserts. After the meal the Great Bowden WI Choir entertained with a selection of well-known songs. Word sheets were provided so that everyone could join in and have a good old sing along. What better way to end a most enjoyable evening.
The Daisy Belles
The Rotary SwiMarathon was held in March at Market Harborough Leisure centre. Teams of swimmers swam relays for one hour. The ladies of Great Bowden, this year calling themselves, 'The Daisy Belles' have swum in every one of six marathons and have encouraged their grandchildren to swim in a team too.
The event was a huge success for swimmers and spectators who cheered on the teams loudly.
We received the Award for Outstanding Achievement, which is given to the team who has made the most impact on the success of the SwiMarathon.
We also won the prize For Raising The Most Amount of Sponsorship Money, £395 which could rise to £500 with gift aid. We have won this award three times before.
Susan Woollard and Jenny Parr collected the awards on our behalf.
