Wing WI enjoyed a delightful and relaxing evening with John Tearne “The Monologue Man”.  John gave a brief history of monologues going back to the old music hall days.   In between disappearances behind the screen to change costume, he accompanied himself on the guitar and entertained everyone some old favourites, including Stanley Holloway’s “The Lion and Albert” and “With her ‘ead tucked underneath her arm” (with audience participation) and some tongue-twister “Funny Occupations” from Jack Warner, better remembered by most of us as Dixon of Dock Green.  You should try saying “ A Fumper and a Flattener of Fevvers”!
