Other things we do

When I was looking back over the year, I was amazed at the number of things we had taken part in.  There were so many, I have decided just to list them to save time (not necessarily in the right order).

Serving refreshments at the Scouts’ Beacon Lighting Event, the Kegworth Quiz, the Christmas Tree Festival, Christmas lunch at Beaumanor Hall, The King and I, Nanpantan’s Christmas Concert, an Open Day at WI House and our fantastic fundraising Ukulele Night were all before the New Year.  Then there was the Hindu Temple visit, Ann Widdicome, Lucy Worsley, the Beacon Group Meeting in March, a tea party to raise funds for Women’s Aid and Afternoon Tea to celebrate our 65th anniversary.  The Annual Council Meeting in Leicester, a Skittles Evening, Sue’s Strawberry Tea in July and a night at the Greyhound Racing.

We also took part in the Great British Spring Clean, toured Long Whatton Gardens, had a Faith Visit, entered the Federation Quiz, went on a Canal Boat trip and heard Benjamin Zepheniah at the Town Hall. Finally we enjoyed seeing Nell Gwynne at Quorn, the A-Z Walk in Leicester city and the Pie Night at Beaumanor Hall. We also have our monthly coffee mornings and Woolly Women’s Workshop.

We also always take part in the County Darts Competition, and as mentioned on the NEWS page, we have won the trophy for 2019 (although the final match didn't take place until mid-January 2020).  The silver rose bowl will be presented to our organiser, Sue Young, by the Rev Kate Bottley at the Annual Council Meeting in March.

Further details of our programme and monthly competitions can be found on our Programme Page.
