2019

TeaOn Tuesday, 15th October 2019 members and partners (15)  of Uppingham Womens Institute enjoyed a brilliant afternoon at Farmer Barnes Dairy at Somerby.  Jane Barnes met us with a warm welcome and escorted us around their new farm.  We toured the dairy pastures aboard a tractor and trailer, saw the dairy cows close up being milked by son Harry, shown the milk storage system, and saw the next generation of calves only a few hours after birth.  The afternoon was rounded off with delicious home made cakes and teas when Jane gave us an incredible insight into the twice daily production of milk from farm to table.  So interesting and informative.  A fantastic afternoon.
