2016 has seen an interesting and varied programme.

The year started with Hema entertaining and involving us in a Bollywood evening. Foreign travels continued in February with Penny Hodgson describing her time as a librarian in China,

In March we held our annual restaurant dinner and several of us enjoyed the ACM especially Michael Portillo`s reminiscences. Our own Flower Guild expert Margaret Slater guided us in making our own flower arrangements. The spring theme continued with an informative illustrated talk by the Woodlands Trust about our local Jubilee wood.

'Resolutions' in May was effected 'inhouse` after two members attended a county briefing session and imparted their knowledge to the meeting, A lively discussion followed , then the vote and wine and cheese refreshments!

Our delegate very much enjoyed the AGM annual meeting in Brighton making new friends and contacts.

Expert Linda Rudkin described the extraction of natures colours to dye various materials illustrated be superb sample boards. In July we learned how to gift wrap economically by the talented Tina Bax.

Denise Taylor sadly announced her retirement in August after her moving talk on Medical Detection Dogs, their training and wonderful work .She and her husband have worked tirelessly for many years for this and Hearing Dogs.

Next time we watch a TV crime detection programme we will know they do not do it like that in the real world ! Paul Taberner's range of experience was informative and fascinating. Thank you to all our excellent speakers.

And now we approach another year`s end with bell ringing and the Christmas party.

The fun and friendship of WI continues so a Merry Christmas and an enjoyable 2017 arc wished for all.

2015 - another new year and we've started well and learnt a new skill. We all know how to start a beehive thanks to Kathy Wapples. Bet you didn't know bees like to drink water and will settle on your clean washing for a quick drink. But beware! They often leave their calling cards behind on the clean sheets! The future welfare of bees has been at the heart of WI's campaigns so we must take care of them.

February will see us being enlightened about the tricks of "Forgers,Furbishers and Duty Dodgers". All will be explained soon!

two good subjects to start the year - and plenty more to come! Join us if you dare.....
