Report for Meetings
CELEBRATING 70TH BIRTHDAY
Peatling Magna scored a personal best and village triumph when members celebrated their Institute's seventieth birthday. The whole village was invited to take tea and cakes in the Village Hall on Saturday November 28th, where an exhibition of village talents ranging from painting, needlework, corn-dollies, honey and wax products, miniatures of a tinker's caravan and butcher's shop, a metalwork eagle with a six foot wing span, a rocking horse and work by the Writing Group had been displayed. Anne Fullagar, WI advisor, was the official guest, and expressed her admiration and appreciation of the event.
This was followed by an entertainment and community singing. The most stirring moment of which was when visitors and members spontaneously stood to sing a triumphal "Jerusalem". A special Birthday Cake was cut and distributed.
The December meeting two days later benefited by having possible new members attend to see a demonstration of a new method of paper flower making by Mrs Roni Tucker..
