Members of Little Bowden WI spent their November making a Burlap Christmas Wreaths and Christmas Decorations

TOP SCRIPTWRITER IN OUR MIDST...
Little Bowden WI was treated to a visit from top TV scriptwriter and playwright, Jonathan Harvey. Currently one of the exclusive group of eight Coronation Street writers and well-known for creating Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Jonathan entertained members with a fascinating insight into the world of stage and small screen.  As well has having us all in stitches with his behind-the-scenes observations, he also revealed just how tough it is to stay at the top of the scriptwriting game.  One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity to look at real-life Coronation Street scripts and writer's briefing notes. A fabulous evening.

THE EVE APPEAL...
At their March meeting Little Bowden WI turned their attentions to women's health issues.  Dr Chris Jones, a leading research scientist from UCL and advocate of The Eve Appeal gave members a factual overview of the five gynaecological cancers.  Far from being a sombre evening, Dr Chris managed to inject some humour into his informative talk on a topic that affects all too many of us. Members also learned about All For Eve, a philanthropic Beauty business that donates 100% of its net profits to The Eve Appeal (see www.allforeve.co.uk).
