About Us

Ashby Castle WI was formed in the October of 2012.  Our numbers have always hovered around 36, which is what they are for this year in 2015.  Ashby itself is a small market town of about 14,000 residents so there is plenty of room for growth.  We consider ourselves small but perfectly formed!  We hold our meetings in the afternoons.

We offer our members fun, friendship, a chance to experience something new and a whole lot more besides.  We have 11 meetings per year with the month of August off.  We provide a varied programme of either a visiting speaker, a demonstration of some sort, a quiz or a shared table of festive food for Harvest and Christmas.  This is always followed by time to socialise over tea and cakes.  Always a good thing!  This year we have started up a competition table, linking with the monthly talk or the time of year.

We are very lucky to have a venue which includes a spacious sitting room, a well stocked kitchen and a lovely garden which we do enjoy in the Summer months whenever possible.

cong church Ashby Castle is one of the 5 WIs which make up the group called Northern Lights, along with Ashby Spa, Breedon on the Hill, Osgathorpe and Coleorton.  Since this group was formed, we have enjoyed two very successful and hugely enjoyable evenings together, with nearly 100 members present.

Additional activities include a well attended monthly craft group, frequent coach trips to exciting places, darts and skittles.  Please see the 'What we do' page for more information about these extra events.
